Explore the distribution of a single quantitative variable. Pick a chart type to see its shape, and read the center and spread from the summary-statistics panel.
The Summary Statistics panel reports n, mean, standard deviation, and the five-number summary (min, Q1, median, Q3, max) plus IQR and range. Once data loads, a summary bar appears with buttons to Explore, Preview, or Download the data, and a Change Data button to load something else.
How Q1 and Q3 are computed. Split the ordered data at the median and take the median of each half. When n is odd the median itself belongs to neither half. This is the rule in the coursepack and on a TI-84, so a quartile you work out by hand will match what you see here. (Statistical software often interpolates instead and reports slightly different quartiles — both are in use; this tool follows the course.)
